Not a new concept in the world of the web but never the less an ever growing one, web messaging is developing and in a big way. Rivalry between major player in the messaging arena such as MSN, Yahoo and AOL keep pushing more and more features to what once was a simple messaging application.

Web messaging is now mobile due to extensive development of mobile phones and pda’s allowing people to stay connected with work colleagues and family almost 24/7. The ability to talk real-time within the messaging applications has thrust communication to the fore with immediate responses expected, rather than the delay of email.

Web messaging is seen by many as a useful communication tool that is effective in its delivery while other have major concerns about its usage within a corporate environment and the security implications raised by the software.
